Yang的母亲在她刚出生之后就失踪了。小时候在找到一张老照片后认为找到了母亲去向的线索，和Ruby一起悄悄上了路，差点被戮兽(Grimm)杀死，所幸被舅舅Qrow 搭救。Yang在前往信标学院的飞船上与同途的Ruby相遇，拉着Ruby跟Blake打交道，新生入学考试之后，加入了RWBY队。Vytal节事变，看到Blake即将死在Adam Taurus手下，愤怒地冲上去不顾一切地想要挽救队友，惨遭断臂，之后更换了机械义肢……
