《RWBY》的主要玩法虽然以爽快的打击作为核心，但玩家除了角色自身的技能之外，也能够使用多种多样的道具来扭转。《RWBY》的道具系统分为两个模块。
《RWBY》的道具系统分为两个模块，首先，在“道具组”中，玩家可以选择将不同的道具配置到背包中。通过为三种定位各异的背包，自由配置带上场的道具，从而在战前实现快速选择道具——例如怪物伤害较高的关卡选择恢复大师，需要增强元素克制输出则选择控场战士，而面对怪物血较厚的关卡则可以选择突击先锋。
在“研发”界面中，玩家则可以对科技树投入素材进行升级，从而解锁更多可用的、性能更加强大的道具。
需要注意的是，部分道具需要将前置道具提升至一定等级后，方能解锁，而另一部分功能更为个性化的道具，则自该阶段解锁之后就可以升级与使用了。
