戮兽作为动画《RWBY》中一股贪婪而有害的势力，占据了大部分树墩子世界。这些生物作为人类和一切生灵的最大天敌，被称为“怪物”、“恶魔”、“夜里的爬虫”，自古就威胁着人类的存亡。
在手游《RWBY》中，也有为数众多的戮兽作为敌人出没，它们虽然拥有着动物的外形，但灰暗的毛发颜色和如白骨一般阴森的面具昭示着其作为邪恶异族的存在。
3号档案：獠牙野猪（Boarbatusk）
名字来源于拉丁语barbatus，意为“有胡须的”。体形酷似野猪，通体全黑，覆盖有白色的角，面部生有4只红色眼睛。下颌上有一对弯刀形的獠牙，獠牙和面部均有乳白杂红色花纹。背部覆盖坚硬的甲壳，但腹部没有护甲。性格较为暴躁，发怒时动作迅捷。
