在游戏中，玩家将组建自己的矿产资源开发公司，利用激光技术挖掘地底的矿产资源，收集并出售这些矿产来获得丰厚的利润，然后不断强大自己的挖矿公司。游戏采用了竖版2D画面呈现，一趟直达地心的挖矿历险就此展开。
《深城》有着类似放置类游戏的点触式玩法，玩家只需不断点击屏幕，即可发出激光攻击地底岩石层，每个岩石层就如同BOSS般拥有自己的血量，只有击碎它们才可前进到下一区域。游戏中除了CD较长的激光外，还提供了多种攻击类道具可供选择。
通向地心的路途虽然寂寞，但玩家时常可以在场景中发现琥珀、黄金等令人激动的矿藏，这些资源都可以出售来获取丰厚利润，并以此升级我们的挖矿装备，提升挖矿机能和道具攻击力，令挖矿工程更加迅速。因为游戏采用的是无限模式玩法，只要条件允许，玩家可以一路直通地心，甚至从地球的另一侧猛然冒出个头。
